These Modern Dog Houses Are Adorably Stylish

Created by Southern Californian architectural designers, Alejandro and Sara Pijuan, the husband and wife team behind PDW (Pijuan Design Workshop), The Dog Re-Treat and the Woof Ranch are dog houses inspired by the mid-century modern designs of Richard Neutra, Joseph Eichler, and William Krisel.
The latest model, The Woof Ranch, features a deck covered in artificial turf as well as a small window in the interior of the house to create the indoor/outdoor experience often associated with modern houses. A low, tapered roof with real wood shingles was also included in the design to allow rain water to drain into a custom planter sitting at the end of the deck. If you’re interested, you can get one for your pup, here.

This old building in New York has been transformed into modern apartments

Photography by Bruce Damonte Architectural design firm WORKac, have completed the renovation of a historical building with a cast-iron facade in New York City, and transformed it into modern apartments.
Photography by Bruce Damonte From the exterior, and only visible when looking down on it, is the rooftop addition, which New York City’s Landmarks Commission required to be invisible from the street level. However as the building is low compared to others around it, the designers had to get creative.
Photography by Bruce Damonte They utilized three rooftop projections to mask the bulk of an addition: the triangular pediment of the historic Carey Building next door, and the circular pediment and an abandoned elevator bulkhead at the top of the building itself. The “shadow” created by these three projections created a zone for the addition and the opportunity for a distinctive angled form for the new roof.

It’s a naturally weather-resistant material that doesn’t retain water, making it suitable even in places that experience a lot of rain. Also, as long as it’s packed and installed properly, thatch is an excellent insulator and resistant to high winds. Kitchen Design Idea – Store Your Kitchen Appliances In An Appliance Garage

Coffee makers, mixers, toasters, blenders and other large kitchen appliances can be tough to store. They’re large, bulky, and take up a substantial amount of counter space. An appliance garage solves that problem and creates a place for them to be conveniently stored when they’re not being used and doesn’t take up any extra counter space. Here are some examples of the various styles of appliance garages… 1. Rolling Doors Using rolling doors to conceal the appliance garage is a great idea because it can completely open up when you need it to, but can also be only partially opened to continue hiding the other things stored in there. For example, the sliding door of this large appliance garage hides the appliances as well as various recipe books and coffee mugs.
